I love pearls. I have an aunt named Pearl. My first piece of quality jewelry was a Mother-of-pearl ring given to me by my mother. I have since given it to my niece. It has something of a casual look to it...unlike how gemstone tends to look. But it glows like a fine pearl. There is a lot to understand about pearls in general. The more you know the more you will appreciate the pearls you purchase!
Pearls have been used for ages by women in necklaces and earrings especially. The add a dignified touch to your outfit. May I suggest, always wear pearls with classic styles of clothing when you're in your "dressy" clothes. We want to uphold the dignity of pearls don't we! You must remember your grandmother wearing them. But don't be afraid of looking older than your years. There are now a lot of styles and kinds of pearls for adorning. They have a contemporary look. See some terrific designs at LaMonir Collection!
As a necklace there are traditional lengths. The Princess length is a single strand 18" long. Then the Opera length is a single strand of pearls 30-35" long. There are even longer lengths too! I love the pearl necklace with a single knot in the center to capture more attention. See what Alle' Fine Jewelry has for you to browse through. When you buy you automatically get 6% cash back! Have I got your attention with that??
Adorn Yourself!

Types of Pearls
Did you know that pearls are in fact organic in nature. They are a product of Mother Nature. Each begins as a single grit of material that has by chance made its way into a mollusk. A mollusk is a marine creature that we usually call a clam or oyster. Over time the piece of grit is covered in material that hardens and is very durable. Now it's a pearl.
Natural pearls are rare and, as you can imagine, expensive. The only difference between a natural pearl and a cultured pearl is human intervention. The grit is place in the mollusk to ensure a pearl develops. There are different shapes of pearls. A Spherical Pearl is round. But a Baroque Pearl is larger and irregularly shaped. Each is unique. For this reason it spawns a different type of jewelry design--often used in necklaces. Freshwater pearls are from marine creatures living in lakes and rivers. They produce pearls that are irregular shaped with texture on the surface rather than completely smooth. A pearl of a very different color is the Tahitian Black Pearl. They are considered exotic and mystical--pretty much like anything dark and from a faraway land!
I must mention the Mother-of-Pearl jewelry since it is similar and boasts an iridescent glow. It comes in light pastel shades so there is also great variety in it.
