It's the Tribe
Last year, the Tigers totally choked away this division at home on the final
weekend, not to mention the last month of the season. Detroit’s
hopes for a AL Central crown were nixed by Kansas City
and Minnesota clinched. But go
figure, after staggering to the finish line in the regular season, Detroit took
advantage of its Wild Card and rolled past the Yankees and the A’s to get to
the Tiger’s first World Series since1984.
Lately, the Tigers have been playing inspired baseball, and a key series with
Cleveland will determine the
outcome of the race. The Indians have been on fire too; they still haven't lost
a series since Aug. 10-12 against the Yankees (who they cannot seem to touch,
you know who the Yanks wanna see in the playoffs) And they are stocked. But can
they stop Detroit's momentum? The
Jake will be packed again for the three-game series, where the pressure is on Detroit
who is fighting not only Cleveland for the division, but the Yankees for the
Wild Card. The Tigers need wins more desperately than the Indians right now.
I think that even should the Tiger manage a sweep against the Indians during
that last match-up of the regular season, the Tigers will still be aiming at
the Wild Card as opposed to the division. Cleveland
has too easy a schedule the rest of the way to blow the lead, even if the
Tigers whittle it down to a buck and a half. Still, Cleveland
plays at Kansas City on the final
weekend of the season and if the AL Central is still a race on the last
weekend, they would love to play spoiler. Still,
