Lake Powell Magic

Lake Powell is the perfect spot to go hang with your friends and family. With over 2000 miles of shore you can easily find a gorgeous spot to anchor a houseboat and set up camp for a few days. I love the canyon camps down the Escalante River, but beach areas around Warm Creek are abundant and the open water is calm all day.

Decided to try the southern end of Lake Powell this year as we usually go out of Bull Frog and send 4 hours cruising down to the Escalante for canyon camping. The resort at Page AZ is much more commercial and home to a lot more tourists than the resort at Bull Frog but the tourists stayed at the hotel and didn't venture on to the water.

The lake is more open with a lot more beach camp spots outside of Page. We found a nice spot in Warm Creek Bay, about 1 1/2 hours from Wahweap, easily beached the house boat and had several hours left to play on the first day. The bay is very open and didn't have much traffic so the water remained calm and skiing was great all day long. No negatives here.
