You know you like cheese. That's why you want to look at this Twist. Really.

So today you were probably moseying around the internet, looking for the latest news about when your favorite band is going on tour to promote its latest album (which you've already memorized), when suddenly you got a craving. An intense, all-consuming, must-be-satisfied-now craving. So what did you do? You decided to find a place online where you can get what you desperately need to satisfy your gastrointestinally-inspired (and probably also taste-but-inspired) urge.

And now you're here, looking at this page. You say to yourself, "Great. I have no life." Possibly, but at least you'll soon have what you really want: Cheese.

Why Cheese?

To satisfy that craving, you're probably not wanting any old cheese. You want real cheese. Gourmet cheese.

Gourmet cheese is on a whole different level than the cheese most people are used to. It is true that there can be a certain "eat at your own risk" element to gourmet cheese. While we aren't trying to scare you, and it isn't nearly as risky as say, trying to eat a puffer fish (one of the most highly poisonous fish out there), some of the best gourmet cheese from Europe actually comes unpasteurized. The argument behind not pasteurizing the cheese is that it ruins the flavor. Which then begs the question - what's more important to you as a cheese eater: great taste or avoiding food poisoning?

That said, most gourmet cheese ordered in a cheese gift basket or included as part of some other form of gourmet gift is going to be pasteurized. But it is a bit interesting that eating cheese does indeed involve consuming mold. Which then makes one also realize that number one - when going gourmet, a certain level of unconventionality (by design, actually) has to be involved, and number two, not all mold, just like not all bacteria, is bad for us.

Perhaps the top three countries known for their gourmet cheeses are France, Italy, and Germany. France has an interesting story in that they are known to have in the neighborhood of 1,000 different varieties of cheese. It has also been joked that there is a cheese for every day of the year and more, which is natural considering that outside of the more popular variety of cheeses, there is seemingly endless variation possible

n France, Comte cheese is the variety produced in largest quantity, but Roquefort and Cantal are also produced in large numbers as well. And believe it or not, France actually has legal rights over Emmental cheese, which is essentially the umbrella term for Swiss cheese (pale yellow variety with holes in it). So France alone could be a great source for a gourmet cheese collection.

Cheese from Italy for course is a must have for any gourmet cheese connoisseur, especially considering the fact that Italy is arguably the nation that has been systematically making cheese the longest. Beyond mozzarella there are literally hundreds of Italian cheeses to be sampled just like the wines that Italy is known for as well. It is almost mind boggling - to think of how much there is out there to sample. But if we have been given the gift of life, than why not expand our experiences to include more of the wonderful world of gourmet cheese?

Gorgonzola is as some of you know, a form of bleu cheese, and this is distinctly Italian. Parmesan cheese is an essential part of Caesar salad. But we're covering gourmet cheese. A lesser known (yet worth knowing) Italian cheese such as mascarpone can actually be used as a substitute for whip cream thanks to its creamy consistency. Also in this category would be Scamoza, made from unpasteurized cow's milk (buyer beware). It can be enjoyed with fruit at the conclusion of a meal.

And then there are the German cheeses. The most famous of the German variety of cheeses is Limburger. It is pasteurized and has a creamy, light taste. It does not have the fragrance that it is famous for until after three months, so it can be enjoyed without knocking anyone out, so to speak. Cambozola is another German cheese sometimes called blue brie. It is both creamy like camembert and sharp like gorgonzola. Go gourmet? Bon appétit!

This Twist Has Cheese

Rome, one of the oldest cities in the modern world is a city that also takes it cheese - which many would consider to be gourmet cheese - very seriously. And given the history behind Rome and cheese, they certainly have a good case to do so. One of the oldest cheeses, Caciocavallo, is actually sold in pairs linked by a small piece of twine so that they end up looking like saddlebags. Apparently this is an homage to a theory on how cheese was originally created. Apparently, an Arab nomad in pre-BCE times had filled his saddlebags with milk, and the milk had curdled in the hot sun and separated from the liquid whey. In those days many food containers were made from animal sources, so the rennet in the bag reacted with the milk, permitting the cheese production to happen in the first place.

If you were not aware, the existence of cheese is said to have been around for at least 8,000 years - which doesn't sound that old when considering the age of the planet or the universe, but considering that we're only beginning the second millennium, and that this predates the Old Testament, it's pretty safe to say that if you didn't respect cheese before, you certainly should now! Gourmet cheese is just that - gourmet. There is nothing artificial or mundane about it; it is from the Old World, particularly the European world, and it gives us a peek into what dietary consumption was like before mass production, fast food, and microwaves. And there's always something intriguing, charming, or even romantic about discovering what the more pleasant side of life was like in the Old World.

Gourmet cheese also abounds in the form of Pecorino Romano, a sheep-based cheese that is salty and hard. It dates back to the Roman Empire as well, and is a far cry from the processed cheeses that many of us are used to today. If you are wondering how this kind of gourmet cheese (or really, any kind of specialty cheese) is meant to be enjoyed, either eating the cheese with fruit, vegetables, or bread is ideal. In Europe, cheese is often considered to be a desert - and so instead of breaking out the chocolate cake, you can now simply break out a healthier, and more gourmet alternative such as Pecorino Romano and some fruit, and enjoy the good life!

Some other Italian cheeses include Ricotta, which is also a sheep-based product. Ricotta is commonly used in cheesecake and in cannoli, and is considered a desert-cheese. Technically, it is also asserted that Ricotta isn't really a cheese at all, since it is made from whey (separated from the curd used to make Pecorino Romano). As a gourmet cheese ingredient, Ricotta can also be found in pizza, calzoni, ravioli, lasagna, and "Easter" pies.

Anyone who wants to learn more about gourmet cheese should consider making a trip to Italy, where as mentioned earlier, they take their cheeses seriously. It is a lifestyle to eat cheese, and to eat it often. There is even a saying that goes, "la boca I'e minga straca se le spuza de vaca," which translates to, "the mouth cannot be finished until it smells of cows." Now that might not sound too fancy, delectable, or even appetizing. But it does sound authentic, doesn't it?

Save: A Powerful Four-Letter Word

Sadly, until recently, the number of Americans who embraced this empowering view of savings was few indeed. For example, the Consumer Federation of America reported that the average person incurs roughly $2,000 of “unexpected” expenses a year. However, as a personal finance expert for women it pained me to see that their survey showed the average woman between the ages of 24 – 35 has less than $500 in savings. With no financial safety net, all it takes is one faulty car engine to send your finances into a financial tailspin.

Up until 2009, the practice of routine savings seemed to have gone the way of the transistor radio and black and white television sets. However, with the onset of the current recession and spike in unemployment, we're starting to see a renewed interest in this once quaint practice. If you are not yet saving anything today, don't beat yourself up. As a personal finance expert for women the most important thing I can say to you is this: simply acknowledging the importance of saving is a HUGE first step.

Save Yourself from Yourself

When it comes to saving, your initial goal should be create a base-level emergency fund. To do this, you want to first accumulate a $2,000 savings nut (best to keep it in a separate savings account to avoid the temptation to spend it!). To find the extra money to save, take a close look at your day-to-day spending. When it comes to money management for women, questions can range from: "Am I using all the cell minutes I'm paying for?" to "Do I need to downsize my housing or transportation budgets?" As a personal finance expert for women I've seen over and over how thoughtfully questioning your expenditures can actually relieve an enormous amount of stress. Once you hit that $2,000 goal, you'll next want to aim for enough savings to cover three to six months of your living expenses.

When you achieve this goal, it’s time to congratulate yourself. You've just taken a huge step forward on the path towards women and financial independence. Your next action step is to start saving for “big-ticket” items (examples include down payments on homes or cars) as well as saving for your retirement. As a personal finance expert for women, I recommend that you strive to set aside 5% of your gross (i.e. before-tax) income for your combined emergency fund / big-ticket items and at least 10% of your gross income for retirement.

Now, if you're just getting started on the saving front, that 15% goal may sound as overwhelming (and unrealistic!) as being told to drop that last 10 pounds in a week. So gently remind yourself that 15% is your end goal, not your starting goal. Put one foot in front of another and you'll be amazed over time how it all adds up! Remove any leaves that will fall below the water line. Then provide a fresh underwater cut about one inch from the stems' base. Place them in a fresh flower-food solution, which will provide nourishment and prevent bacterial growth. Cut rose stems under water and add fresh flower food to vases.

Most lily varieties are available year-round. It's best to buy lilies when a few of their lower buds have slightly opened and show some color. When properly processed and treated for ethylene sensitivity, cut lilies have a potential vase life of 7-14 days.

Cut stems under water and remove lower foliage that will fall below the water line. To avoid difficult stains, remove pollenbearing anthers before use.

Green ties in with nature and health. A standalone green bouquet conveys a regenerative quality, incorporating youth and fortune into the symbolic meaning of these flowers. Let someone you know about their health and hope that they will stay strong with green roses, there aren’t that many different shades of green roses, but the few we know of are: Jade Rose, Chartreuse Rose, Lime Sublime Rose, and Green Ice. Blue

The symbolic meaning of flowers in gentle blue is easily understood. Cooling anxiety and invoking peace, blue flowers represent calm and tranquility. When looking to be calm, it may be difficult to find the blue roses you want. The names of all flowers mean something special. Names of flowers usually don’t happen by accident—though there might be a funny story behind some different types of flowers—but different kinds of flowers mean different things. Here are meanings behind of some of those names of flowers

Whether it be at a party, horticulturist convention, or over dinner, you can impress someone by knowing the names of all flowers. (Even without knowing all flowers, you can remember the meanings behind some of these kinds of flowers.) Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet? So choose one of the flower names above, read on, and decide!

There are so many names of flowers out there in the world it is hard to keep them straight. If you look at the Rose alone for each color there are around 10 different names to name each shade of that color. This is quite amazing especially if you are trying to figure out what name of flower that orange star shaped flower you saw in a store window.

This has to be one of the worst feelings ever, you see the most beautiful flower in the world. Or at least at the time it seems that it is, but you can’t find it anywhere, mainly because you ask people if they know what the flower name is when you describe it to them. They may know a name, but then when you search it up, guess what! It really wasn’t the real name, no one used that names of flowers for that flower before besides that person down the street who you got the name from.

Names are important, they are what separates a rose from a lily on a piece of paper. Unless there is a picture of each flower you need to know the names of the flower. Well, here at flower-dictionary we have all the names on a piece of paper for you, the lucky thing for you, is that you can click on the name and have the picture right there so you can know if it is the flower you wanted or not.

Unfortunately we didn’t put down all the names of flowers onto our dictionary. You might find it cruel that we don’t have all the names but for our sanity sake we decided to go for the most common name. Instead of having 20 names for one flower we discovered the most common name used for that flower and stuck with that. Of course if we wanted to throw everybody off we could have used their Latin names. For some of the flowers it might seem easy like rose is rosa, but what about Liliaceae for a lily? This certainly would be fun for us though.

We decided for the names of flowers we wouldn’t use their Latin names because we didn’t want all the complaints that would come from it, so here we are your own list of flowers. Next time you want to know what that amazing flower was that you found, come to us. Of course you have to have the patience to go through the thousands of flowers we have up on our site. Just go one name at a time and maybe, just maybe you will find that flower and you will be able to prove to your friends that you really aren’t crazy. It does exist! Then they will just point out how much time you spent trying to find the name of the flower and say that you are crazy, but deep down inside you will feel better because you know what is important, the names of flowers. Don’t look back to the old days when you didn’t have a dictionary for your flowers.

With the recent economic downturn, I finally decided to stop turning down all of the coupons I find online and in the morning paper. Even though I haven’t lost my job, yet, I decided to save every penny wherever I can to make sure I can put enough away in savings in case I do. So whenever I see the morning paper or find one of those online advertisements for dog food coupons, I cut them out and put them in a bag stashed in the glove compartment of my ’04 Impala. I now keep a wad of dog food coupons in my car, sandwiched between all of the other grocery item coupons. When I go to the local grocery store, I pull out the dog food coupons before flipping through the rest of the coupons I might use that day.

Henry’s a yellow lab, and he goes through dog food like you wouldn’t believe. So every time I make a run to the grocery store, I double check my dog food coupons to make sure they haven’t expired; I reassure myself I have the best ones and enough of them to buy what I need at the grocery store.

Whenever I revisit the local grocery store, the girls at the register know to expect a handful of coupons, now. I’ve only converted over to using coupons on a regular basis about three months ago. Apparently that’s long enough for word to spread like wildfire among the employees at Smith’s. When I approach the registers and hand over my dog food coupons, sometimes I notice a smirk on their lips. Perhaps they find it amusing that I consistently bring in dog food coupons with my daily purchase. I can’t really imagine why they might get a kick out of this habit of mine, but they’ve found some reason to laugh about it.

Either way, I couldn’t care less what the high school teeny boppers might say about me behind my back. I need to save some money, so the use of coupons only makes sense. Taking the time to give a little more value to each dollar will catch up to me in the future when I’m living large and those girls are just learning what it means to budget their income. In these harsh economic conditions we’re living in, I don’t feel bad about saving every penny and conserving what I can to put myself in a better position to withstand the storm when it breaks.

When Henry, my yellow lab, first entered our lives, we didn’t quite know what to feed him. So we looked through the various different brands to see which one we’d start with. After perusing through the morning paper’s coupon section, we found some Pedigree coupons. Good enough for me! We cut out the Pedigree coupons and headed to the local store to buy the first bag of dog food. Henry sniffed the food and ate most of what we put in the dish. So far, it all seemed pretty simple and straight forward. We searched for more Pedigree coupons the next day, brought those Pedigree dog food coupons with us to the store and bought enough dog food to last a year. We just stashed it in the food storage room and figured we wouldn’t have to worry about buying dog food for a while.

After a few weeks, we noticed Henry didn’t eat all of his dog food. I wondered if he might be sick and took him to the vet. They gave him a clean bill of health and sent us on our way. Before we left, they recommended trying out a few different types of dog food to see which one he likes the best. I thought the vet was crazy! Why would the dog care which kind of dog food he eats? Part of me wanted to simply force Henry to continue eating the dog food we purchased with those Pedigree Coupons. We found hundreds of those Pedigree Coupons and spent a lot of money on a year’s supply of dog food. Since they were unopened bags, perhaps we could take them back, but the hassle of carrying all of those bags back into the car and unloading them at the store exhausted me just from thinking about it.

After a few more days of looking at a half eaten bowl of dog food, I decided I preferred a healthy and strong canine companion over one that didn’t grow to its full size of exert the normal level of dog energy simply because it didn’t really like the food I gave it. If I were the dog, I’d probably want to eat something else, too. So I hauled and loaded all of the bags of dog food into my car and drove back to Smith’s to see if they’d return them or exchange them for a different brand. Fortunately, they accepted all of the bags of unopened dog food and gave me enough credit to use on other brands for the remainder of the year. What a relief! Let the dog food testing begin!

Henry and I returned to our favorite spots in front of the computer screen and began to surf for other highly recommended brands of dog food, along with their coupon counterpart. To the right of the screen was an ad containing Purina Coupons. I clicked on the link and followed the directions until I located those Purina Coupons and printed them out. Purina it is! With the new Purina Coupons in my pocket, Henry and I took a drive to the store. He had to stay in the car, of course, so I left the windows rolled down so he could at least stick his head out of the window. He wasn’t full grown, yet, so he couldn’t quite reach the crack in the window, but that didn’t stop him from trying, over and over again. I had to stop and laugh as he jumped up and down trying to reach the opening in the passenger seat window. He noticed me laughing and barked his complaints, trying to lure me back with those puppy dog eyes. It almost worked, but I quickly realized I would only get in trouble if I were to enter the store with a dog. So with the Purina Coupons in my hand, I power walked right to the dog food aisle.

Without even breaking my stride, I spotted the Purina, grabbed a smaller bag of dog food and marched to the registers with my Purina Coupons. I handed them the Purina dog food coupons, mentioned my credit line to them and left the store without any problems. Henry was happy to see me walking towards the car, and began to jump up and down again. I unlocked and open the back seat door to toss the dog food in, jumped in the driver’s seat, and took off for home.

As soon as I walked into the kitchen, I tore off the top corner of the dog food, poured Henry a bowl and stashed the remainder of the bag in the pantry. Let’s see if third time’s the charm. I returned to the computer to make sure we could access more Purina Coupons if we needed to, found a few spots online and put it out of my mind. I had to get back to work, so that was enough dog food business for one day. We’ll check back with Henry in a week or two to see if he’s still eating the new Purina brand.

I found a stack of pizza coupons on my kitchen table the other day. I realize my roommate must have cut them out of the morning paper until I noticed a couple that looked like they were printed from his computer. Perhaps he found some pizza coupons in the paper and decided to look for a few more online. My roommate is a little unpredictable at times and usually goes through these phases. The morning paper most likely featured the perfect advertisement to get him started on a pizza fetish and now he’ll probably bring pizza home every evening until he gets sick of pizza and moves on to the next best thing.

Many women consider ovulation to be a miniature menstrual cycle they experience right in the middle of their regular 28 day cycle. While some women are very uncomfortable during ovulation, others don’t even notice a change in their bodies at all. Ovulation will generally take place every month until you have reached the ripe old age for menopause to occur. Of course, this is excluding the times you are pregnant or breastfeeding. These symptoms will all aid you in your journey of knowing when it’s best to conceive. If you would rather have a more concrete way of telling when you are ovulating, take time to visit one of the many free ovulation calendars found online. By entering in a few dates, these calendars will help you predict the best day and time you should conceive. It will also be able to tell you the best ways to conceive. Are you travelling to Europe? It is hard to choose where to go and what places to see in France, what places to see in Germany, and what other countries to stop in. The first thing to say to yourself is Congratulations! Great job in making the decision to do it, there is no better time than now to take advantage of the great deals and discounts going on in international travel. While so many people say that they dream of a European vacation, there are much less who actually do it, for various reasons. If you stay all in one place, you can get a local sampling of each area.

Another consideration to take is the local language. Many travelers only speak their native tongue; let’s use English as an example. If you want to see the ruins of the Iron Curtain, these places to see in Berlin are often marked with plaques in German, and sometimes other languages. If it is multi lingual, then rest assured that English would be almost always included. Many of the historical sites are walk through, self guided tours. However, if you want to take advantage of museums and other tours then it would do you well to call ahead. Browse on the internet for phone numbers of the places you want to see in Germany, and give them a call. The international numbers will have a higher fee than regular calls, be aware of that. But it will save you stress on your trip and make the most of your time and money there when you are prepared, so I say that its worth the calls. Another option is to use the desk at your hotel or accommodations. They will usually have a concierge or other desk staff to specifically help guests find the activities for their stay. They will have resources to answer your questions about language difficulties, fees, and other issues about any nearby activity or site.

Also while preparing your trip, make sure you have proper paperwork on you including your passport and other government ID like a drivers license. Keep these in safe care throughout all your activities. You can exchange money into Euros, which are accepted throughout most European countries. If you want, talk with your banker about doing so before hand and what exchange fees to expect.
