in order to keep your lawn greener longer you need to make sure you get rid of lawn pests, watering amount is important as well and the way you cut your grass all effects the color of you lawn.  if you have brown patches in your lawn dont worry it can be fixed, trust.  if you have any questions or concerns on your lawn just let me know. i am also worknig towards on becoming a landscaping designer so feel free to ask questions.

greener lawns

first off you need to get rid of those pesty lawn critters. you may have heard of the usual grubs and ants but here are some other ones.  the ones that feed on the blades are leafhoppers, clover mites greenbugs billbug adult and chinch bugs. the ones that feed on the crowns of the blades are: cut worms billbug larvae fiery skpper larvae sod webworm larvae and the armyworms. Finally the ones feeding on the roots. the common white grub, wireworm, ground pearl and the mole crickets.

the way you need to cut the grass (iff you want it to stay greener) depends on the type of grass. I myself have that cheep mixed grass so i usually keep it at least cut 1.5 to 2.0 inches. but if you go by this than u shouldnt have any problems:

cool-season grasses:            min. height               max. height

bentgrasses                                1/4"                         3/4"

bermudagrass                                   1/2"                          1"

blue gramagrass                                 2"                           3"

buffalograss                                        "                             "

carpetgrass                                         1"                            2"

centipedegrass                                    "                             "

greener lawn

another way to keep your grass greener is the way you water your lawn.  take kentucky blue grass for example it needs to use less water than centipede grass.  depending on the type of grass you have u need to use a reasonable amount of water. ill try and get the chart up as soon as possible so you can see.

best lawn care stores

the best places to goto to get great lawn equipment would have to be (my personal prefferance) lowes.  but home depot and other home improvement stores are great too. I just prefer lowes because thats all we have in my city and its closer and that saves gas.
