evan2.jpgEvan Almighty

The movie, Evan Almighty came out just five days ago. It was panned in the papers, though I decided to see for myself...

The story is of a newly elected U.S. congressman who prays to change the world. So God, (played by Morgan Freeman) tells him to build an ark. Evan, the congressman, is of course reluctant to drop his job and begin building an ark in his backyard, so God sends him some subtle signs. His alarm clock rings every morning at 6:14, and instead of saying General Electric, only Gen is lit up. Gen. 614. His new liscense plates say this, and birds start to follow him around. The more Evan tries to ignore these signs the more God sends. God appears in Evan's Hummer's backseat, and saying the pledge of allegiance God stands next to him saying, "One nation, under Me, indivisible..." Evan grows a beard, that whenever he shaves it, grows right back.

I won't go any further in the plot because the movie is certainly worth seeing. The movie was outrageously expensive to make, estimated at 250 million dollars. This is because they used real animals. This, of course, sparked protest from animal rights activists.

Yet, despite all this, its a must see!

This movie was slightly disappointed to me because Steve Carell is not as funny as Jim Carrey. But it was still pretty good, because, after all, Morgan Freeman plays himself.
