This is my review of the latest version of this updated classic. I've been playing it for a while and it really jams!

MadGamer Review No. 1

First off, I get my game on with the XBOX 360, so that is the console on which I took part in this latest update of one of my favorite games of all time. This game plays like a real baseball game, full of high-res action and lots of nail-biting excitement. MLB 2K7 is incredibly lifelike, and the graphics absolutely give all kinds of intimate detail, from the crowds, to the stubble on the players' chins. And each player carries his real-life baseball tendencies and foibles into the batters-box, to re-create the actual conditions of a game.

The hitting system is good, but not great. Pull the right stick down to shift back and forth, then let it go to swing. The batter can launch a ball with a power swing, or tap to try and foul off a pitch to stay alive. After getting on base, one of the best features of this game is the ability to get into the mind of a baserunner, and out-think the man on the mound.

Speaking of the bump, pitching in MLB 2K7 is incredible. The hold-release-tap works well, and allows you to put just enough mustard on a pitch, or take something off for a change-up. One of my favorite features allows the pitcher to choose from a wide array of pitches, some of which may not even exist in the real world of baseball!

In the field, this game still drives me a little bit crazy. Players are hard to control as they go after grounders, and it is especially difficult to turn a double play. But again, that is similarly a difficult thing to do in real life, so it makes sense that it should be a pain in the game.

Over all, MLB 2K7 gets an A-minus, (one of the highest grades available from yours truly the MadGamer. I'm like your worst nightmare of a professor who could never give an all-out A.) for getting so much detail right, for awesome graphics, for creating game-like play conditions, and, most of all, for letting me be David Ortiz.
