It has been a great season for Major League Baseball in 2007, and now it is down to its final two weeks. So, in honor of our national pastime, MadGamer presents the finest analysis of what has been the season thus far, and what we fans can expect as the pennant chases go nuclear.
See, it's called the Wild Card because it makes us fans go wild. Just a few games separate the handful of teams that are currently in the running for a WC-berth, and the standings seem to change every day. Do you think you know who’s going to end up on top by the last day of September? Check out the MadGamer analysis, which is more than just a wild guess.
And I’m about more than just the Wild Card races. Unbelievably, every division in baseball is still up for grabs, except for the American League West, where the Angels have an 8 1/2-game lead on second-place Seattle. In every other division it looks like anybody’s ball game.
In 2006, entering the final two weeks of the season there were only two division leaders with less than a six-game lead. Detroit had a two-game lead on Minnesota in the AL Central and the Dodgers had a half-game edge on San Diego in the NL West. Today, everybody is incredibly close! So if you haven’t started watching the scoreboard to see how the other teams besides you team is doing, it’s time to start. (Some of us have been doing it for months.)
