This is the very best time of year to get out and enjoy the Fall colors, here's my favorite place to do it.
Utah's Nebo Loop

This is the very best time of year for driving Utah's
Nebo Loop Scenic Byway The most beautiful drive in the state begins in the
quiet community of Payson and climbs up back a canyon of forests that become
stunningly colorful in the fall. The road continues along a creek complete with
sporadic waterfalls.
As the road continues, the elevation increases dramatically. The land around
you becomes much more of a mountain setting, with alpine meadows and crisp
lakes surrounded by brilliant yellow aspen trees. As you drive, be sure to take
advantage of various pull-outs which offer vistas overlooking the Wasatch
Mountains. From these overlooks you
will also get a great view of the sharp
pinnacle of 11,877-foot Mount Nebo.
During the summer, many families come up the canyon to fish and camp, and the
hiking on trails up and down the plush mountains can be strenuous, but they pay
off with a great set of views.
The areas of Payson, where the north end of the Nebo Loop begins, and Nephi,
the southern end of the drive, were settled by Mormon pioneers. These sleepy
little towns have definitely preserved much of their rustic heritage. But don’t
be fooled – These towns are still a great place to have a terrific pre-or
post-ride lunch, whether you’re in the mood for Thai, or Chinese, or a good
old-fashioned burger.
So if you’re in Utah, don’t
miss the opportunity to take one of the most beautiful drives anywhere. See the
Nebo Loop.
